Boat of the the week 4

A bit late, sorry, I usually try to get these out on Friday.

Seen, glittering in the sunset, on the slip, at West Mersea:

Shes a beautifully lined-off high-bowed motor launch.
She has a few repair strakes clearly visible at the bow. Id love to have watched them being fitted.
But for all her yachty varnish and honest workmanship what I like most are her legs:

The smacks (one of which is lurking in the background) have them but few other boats do. They make a lot of sense. Wooden boats are often kept on the water all year round. Rather than have the yard haul them out owners with legs often beach them at the top of a tide, wade out with a paint scraper and a stiff brush, remove a few kilos of molluscs and then anti-foul the bottom in one tide.

Ive got twin keels. I dont know why my boat spends the winter ashore but Im definitely rethinking the whole thing.

Legs. Theyre the future.
